Updated game binary (Quake3.exe) for Quake3 1.32 players. This patch fixes some security issues discovered following id Software's release of the Quake III Arena source code under GPL. The following issues are fixed:
  • Ludwig Nussel and Thilo Shulz discovered a vulnerability letting a malicious client download files from a server if auto download is enabled ( sv_allowDownload 1 ).
  • A second issue fixed in this release would let a malicious server exploit a buffer overflow to execute a shellcode on connecting clients.

    An updated version of the Quake3 1.32 Linux Point Release. This is NOT a new release, this is an update of the installer code to fix recent bugs related to text mode installation on glibc 2.3 systems. If you already have Q3 1.32b working on Linux, you don't need to download, the game binaries are strictly the same.

    The Quake3 1.32 update for Mac users. This version comes with an installer, and places a PunkBuster installer package in the Q3A directory. Here's what has been fixed since the initial 1.32 test:

  • Punkbuster support (installer included)
  • F13 key brings down console for international keyboards
  • NSEvent event timing added for keyboard/mouse events
  • Optional IN_ cvar for mouse scaling to avoid Mac OS X bug
  • larger default zone/hunk memory for mods
  • vm compiler provides full jump/branch support for all mods
  • support for 11khz sound (non-default) for speed
  • keyboard repeat rate left untouched on exit
  • Gameranger launch support

    Demo Show Creator (DSC) is a windows explorer like tool to manage and replay Q3 demos with ease. DSC 1.32 supports now drag & drop with the windows explorer. DSC supports custom models, sounds and maps. That means, if a demo uses it and you have installed it, DSC will show it within the properties window.

    Reaction Quake 3 is a "total conversion mod" for Quake III Arena based on action and realism with a specific emphasis on action over realism. Reaction is a port of the classic Action Quake 2 (AQ2) mod. This release brings a collection of code tweaks and fixes from the things found in the last release. What's new:

  • In-game server browser now fixed to show RQ3 3.x games, yay!
  • Added an error message to the /radio command to let you know if your bind is messed up and you're trying to play a radio sound that does not exist
  • Allowed CTB radio sounds to also be played in other team-based modes
  • Added a Zoom Sensitivity Lock during fire sequence of ssg to improve aiming
  • Added local cvar cg_RQ3_ssgZoomSensLock to enable or disable the feature above (default enable)
  • Upgraded the gamesource RQ3 is built on from 1.29h to 1.32b
  • Removed most of the unlagged stuff. Only optimized prediction and smooth clients remains.
  • With allWeapon/allItems enable it won't toss weapons/items when you die
  • Various helmet bugs fixed.
  • Successful mapvote now waits for a round to end in TP

    This is the full package, for clean/first-time installs. Major balance changes include a beefed up LG, increased RG knockback and slightly faster GL projectile (original news post can be found here). The CPMA techsheet has also been updated to reflect the latest changes.

    A new 2v2 mode was added and the speed drag is now gone from all game modes apart from NTF. In the new release the players can callvote a new gameplay mode called dev, where all the new ideas for future CPMA versions are being evaluated. Finally, the elusive bot crash problem was fixed.

    A replacement of the User Interface for Quake III, UI Enhanced is intended to make single play and LAN parties more enjoyable... as well as easier creation of scripts for dedicated servers. There are now a host of improvements to other parts of the interface as well. What's new in this release:

  • Merged in bug fixes and improved code from 1.32 source release.
  • Fractional bot skill selection when creating skirmish or multiplayer games. Also for bots added using the ingame menus.
  • New bot selection mode: Play an arena with the map author recommended number of bots, but randomly chosen from a list you provide.
  • Support for Punkbuster when creating servers.
  • Detection of Punkbuster enabled Q3 executables: Punkbuster specific features are hidden when UIE is run on 1.30 or 1.31.

    This is an update for Midget Wars Beta 1. It incorporates the 1.32 source into Midget Wars and makes some minor tweaks.
