Reaction Quake 3 is a "total conversion mod" for Quake III Arena based on action and realism with a specific emphasis on action over realism. Reaction is a port of the classic Action Quake 2 (AQ2) mod. AQ2 still enjoys great popularity in online gaming even 4 years after it was initially released and on an "obsolete" game engine as well. Many people attribute this lasting popularity to both the unique gameplay and the AQ2 community. AQ2 is still more popular than any other Q3 realism mod and any other Quake 2 and Quake/QuakeWorld mods. Reaction Quake 3 aims to bring the gameplay of AQ2 to a new, more modern game engine. This mod is made by AQ2 fans and players specifically for those who love the fast and furious AQ2 gameplay and also to hopefully expose a new generation of players to this unique gameplay. What's new:
Fixed a bug in the sky portal code that prevented it to work in certain situations
Fixed the 'dead bodies over the case' bug
Made water bubbles smaller
Fixed a "Bad gEnt" bug that would cause a crash
Changed the font and colors of the hud
Made it so that all the special weapons are shown in the hud (if more than one)
New sun flare effects, with options to control the sun flare size, opacity, sprite count
Doors and triggers can now be 'locked'/'unlocked' by a new entity, target_activate. Added keys specifying the sound to be played and/or entities to be fired when the player is trying to use a 'locked' entity
Doors can now always open away from the player (new spawnflag)
Made it so that the breakable types can be defined in the worldspawn
New code that resets the entities between rounds - triggers, doors (this option is off by default for doors, though, just like in AQ2), speakers, breakables, func_statics, dynamic lights
New spawnflag for trigger_multiples that make them require an opendoor command in order to be activated
Ability to rotate func_trains between path_corners

Julie Stepan mingles with the nerds waiting in the BYOC registration line. If you haven't been to QuakeCon before, you'd be surprised of the amount of crazy people which turn out for the event. We have some costumed crazies and a guy who looks like John Carmack.
